One… Ask.
Want to achieve a goal or a dream? No matter how big or small, you have two choices.
- Stay in your comfort zone and hope you get offered what you want.
- Ask.
Expressing your needs to the people around you is sometimes very hard. Asking for what you want in a business setting can be even harder.
Yet asking is the true secret.
In the book, “The Aladdin Factor” Jack Canfield said, “Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.”
It’s also the cornerstone of our sales book, Go for No!
If you want to get more yeses in your life, you need to start hearing more no’s. And that means talking to more people and doing a lot more asking!
If you fear the “no” you will lose out on a lot of things that could have been yours had you simply gotten outside your comfort zone and asked.
Two… Risk failure.
I remember when I was about six years old, I got my first bike. What’s crazy was, I hopped on and with zero practice or training, rode that bike down the street like I had been born on it.
People came out of their homes, watching me. I took my hands off the handlebars and casually peddled down the street resting on my banana-shaped seat.
Ha, just kidding.
That did not happen.
No, I had training wheels. And then they finally took them off and still I struggled not to tip over. But I did. Many times until finally, it “clicked.” And that was it, I got it.
I failed my way to success.
We all do. Repeatedly. With everything we try, fail, learn, and get better.
When you try and fail, you are outside your comfort zone.
The more you are willing to risk – take chances and fail your way to success – the more your comfort zone expands and your life with it.
If you never take a risk.
If you never fail at anything.
If you never hear a “no” from anyone.
Those are the obvious signs that you are living well inside your comfort zone and you need to make a change. Now!
