Sometimes rejection can overwhelm you.

There are not enough yeses to counter balance the no’s.

If you know anything about Go for No! we teach that NO is all part of the process. In our live speaking engagements we play the Go for No game and demonstrate how people, through luck and/or attempts get a lot of no’s and a lot of yeses in streaks. That’s why you can’t give up so soon.

Caleb Maddix is about 16 years old now and a self-made millionaire. He also plays baseball. And Caleb said baseball is a game of failure. Statistically, great hitters bat .300 so they fail 70% of the time. You won’t succeed all of the time. You will hear a lot of no’s especially as you are learning.

If you feel like rejection is defeating you, you need to do three things…

1) Revisit your commitment. Remind yourself of why you are doing what you are doing.

2) Take action. Action is the antidote to and fear and uncertainty.

3) Do things that make you feel good. When you are down, there is a tendency to spiral into a bad mental place. Listen and read things that inspire and motivate you. Exercise. Laugh.

As Nido Qubein (President of High Point University) said in our DVD movie, “It’s OK to have a little self pity party, it’s OK to get in the corner and cry for half an hour, but sooner or later you must rise and you must say, I will do this again. I will not let this be the end of it all. There is a rainbow at the end of all of this, and I may have to listen to one, two, three, four or five NOs before I get to the ‘maybe’ and I get to the yes.”
