Are you a people person?  Can you relate to other people?

As Dale Carnegie said:  “People who can put themselves in the place of other people, who can understand the workings of their minds, need never worry about what the future has in store for them.” – Dale Carnegie

If you consider yourself a people person, that quote should be of great comfort. If you are not a ‘people’ person, or you don’t think you are, that’s a skill that needs to change if you are in a people-focused business.

You can use all kinds of tools in your tool box, you can be persistent, you can ‘go for no’ but you better get good at talking to people and understanding their goals and desires.

Here is a hint: it’s all about them. (Just like it is for you!) I’m not preaching here. I’m the same way.

My favorite quote from Bette Midler is: “So enough about me. Let’s talk about you. What do you think about me?”

But after being in the corporate world several years and an entrepreneur for two decades I have studied marketing, sales, and influence. So, if you’re ready to become more of a people person, start by reading my post about connecting with influential people.
